We’re Back in the Baja

After 6 weeks at home in Olalla and a great round of visits with family and friends, we flew back to Baja Tuesday, January 5th. Our great friend Jim Richards picked us up, and not entirely coincidentally, his brother and sister-in-law from Texas too, at the San Jose del Cabo airport. He brought us back to Los Barriles where he and Phebe have been staying in the house on the hill where we left our rig while we were home. We stayed that night, and the next, in our RV in the yard while we got a few chores done and re-provisioned the refrigerator and cupboards. Jim and Phebe provided us with a couple of great dinners, and evenings of lively conversation and cocktails with them, as well as brother Dick and his wife Jo, and one evening the next-door neighbor Russett also, who we enjoyed so much last November. A word of warning: don’t ever drink two of Jim’s delicious margaritas in the same evening if you need to have coherent thoughts or fine motor control. It was good to reconnect, and we’ll be back at Los Barriles next Monday when we make the transition from the house being Jim and Phebe's to being our place for the next six weeks. They leave Los Barriles next Wednesday for a quick trip back up the Baja peninsula and then to Olalla, where they’ll stay a week or so before leaving for their place in Costa Rica for the rest of the winter and early spring.
