The seals for our steering fluid pumps are “in the mail”, so we’re in floating condo mode until they arrive and Dave gets them installed.
Our own personal to-do lists, while still fairly extensive, feel pretty much under control, so we’re beginning to explore the area and have some fun. Yesterday we found “Archie's” out at the beach. Archie's is a “no shirt, no shoes, no problem” kinda place, mostly an outdoor hamburger or fish ‘n chips joint, reminiscent of the Rocket Man’s restaurant at Marathon in the the Keys that Bob particularly enjoyed 7 years ago.
We went to Archie’s for what turned out to be an extended lunch with our Nashville-bound marina mates, Merwin and Crystal, who we’ve gotten to be friends with over the last couple of weeks. Sadly, they are leaving today.
After lunch and a beer they taught us the “ring game”, apparently very popular in the Bahamas where they’ve spent lots of time. It’s quite simple: a 2” steel ring is suspended from a string on an arm extending out from a post, and the post has a bent nail on it which, if you swing the ring just right, lands on the hook. We understand it becomes increasingly entertaining as the evening wears on. Only Merwin was successful in landing the ring during our attempts.
After lunch we stopped by a local fruit and veggie market reminiscent of some of the larger veggie markets in Baja, Mexico from our previous RV days.
We’re hoping that, maybe, the seal for the steering fluid came in the mail yesterday, and will arrive on the boat today. But we’re not holding our breath!
